Inclined beds, Lainbach Tal, South Germany
sketchfab
Exposed along the hiking trail at Lainbach Tal in South Germany lie inclined marl and carbonitic sandstone beds. These beds slope downward at an angle of 33-55 degrees, pointing directly towards the southwest. Three distinct sets of joint planes have formed within this geological structure. The presence of flute casts confirms that these beds are indeed oriented correctly, with no signs of inversion. This unique formation belongs to the Obersdorf facies of the Rhenodanubian Flyschzone in Bavaria.
