This ancient headstone was serving as a gatepost until 1916 near Kirkmadrine in Dumfries and Galloway. Engraved with a Chi-Rho symbol and the Latin phrase 'INITIUM ET FINIS' - or 'the beginning and the end', this stone uniquely lacks an individual's name.
