In the Sun

myminifactory

Between 1946 and 1947 Oscar Jespers created three female figures, closer to reality than his previous Expressionist work, but they still embody a certain idealization of woman. These sculptures depict women as a myth, primarily centered on perfection and fertility. The maternal aspect of woman is emphasized through their wide hips and prominent breasts. The nudity of the women also accentuates the natural aspect of this perfection.
