Improved Way Cover for Precision Matthews PM25-MV Milling Machine, Z-Axis
thingiverse
This is a custom Z-Axis cover designed for the Precision Matthews PM25-MV milling machine. Unlike the factory-original bellows type, which consumes about an inch of valuable y-axis space, this alternative takes up essentially no room and operates with flawless precision. Two STL files are provided for 3D printed components, each measuring around 10 inches in length. Additionally, a DXF file contains the design specifications for the nut plate that secures the bottom clamp. The roll-down shade can be sourced from various suppliers; I acquired mine at Lowes by searching for "Levolor White Room Darkening Cordless Vinyl Roller Shade". The unit was cut down to fit a 9-inch wide space, and instead of using thin white vinyl, I opted for .032 thick neoprene sheeting purchased on Amazon. The entire project cost approximately $15. Comments and suggestions are welcome! A YouTube video showcasing the cover in action can be viewed at https://youtu.be/CVTPEDfURoU.
