Improved Smooth X-axis for Prusa i3 with Leadscrews (adds Adjustable Backlash and Clearance)
thingiverse
This X-axis design is quite nice, but one major drawback that I've seen is its inability to adjust bearing clearance. After switching to drylin bearings, the clearance became too large to produce good prints. This was my motivation for creating this remix. I also added adjustable anti-backlash nuts for the z-lead screw in this remix. In reality, this addition isn't directly related to this design, but I use this modified x-axis with the Retroprinter. This remix addresses several issues: - adds an adjustable clamp mechanism that allows you to adjust z-bearing clearance. - includes adjustable backlash for the z-lead screw (Check out the images for more details. This feature can be added to all lead-screw systems.)
