Improved Slice Mosquito Groovemount Adapters
thingiverse
This is an upgraded version of the Slice Engineering Mosquito Hot End Groovemount Adapters. The original design was prone to delamination due to the force exerted by pushed filament, but running screws along the length of the adapter should prevent it from breaking. It employs two M2x16 (or M2x15) screws and two M2 nuts to secure the adapter firmly to the Mosquito. A short piece of 4mm OD, 2mm ID PTFE tube is threaded through the adapter and protrudes a few millimeters above, creating a fully constrained filament path. Note that I don't own a Mosquito hot end yet; however, I designed these adapters for a couple friends who do. According to reports, they work well. I created multiple variations of the design. STL files with BMG in their name are compatible with the excellent Bondtech BMG extruder and can be printed without support. The STL files with E3D in their name adhere to the official E3D heatsink drawing specification and will require support when printing. Additionally, I designed untested versions of each adapter that utilize heat-set inserts, specifically McMaster part# 94180A307: Heat-Set Inserts for Plastics, M2 x 0.4 mm Thread Size, 2.9 mm Installed Length. The Fusion360 file is also uploaded.
