Improved Shifting Ball Ratchet
grabcad
In my journey to construct a miniature, 3D-printed gear ratchet, I present Part 3 of the project. Version 5 emphasizes operational improvements over Version 4; sliders for inner ratchet, thinner walls for visibility, and enhanced fence alignment. Notably, the ball channel's depth ensures freewheeling locking. However, Version 4 was the silent-running prototype with printing issues on its cap. Version 3 improved upon Version 2 by fixing ball bearing maintenance but faced clearance problems in inner ratchet functionality. Version 2 served as a proof of concept for shift-resistance, although it lacked smooth shifting and proper ball bearing maintenance.
