Improved Hip & Waist joints for Mad Cat MKII
thingiverse
Revamp the fragile hip and waist joints of the Mad Cat MKII Battlemech by printing stronger joint replacements. These new joints consist of two halves inserted first, followed by a central piece that forces them to remain "full diameter," retaining them securely in the groove. For the hip joint, ensure enough clearance for the rotator halves to fit into the engine; sand or snip off excess lip if necessary. The insert, featuring pins connecting to the leg, snaps into the two rotator halves, keeping them apart and retained in the engine. In the case of the waist joint, follow a similar procedure, friction-fitting the two halves into the upper joint before adding the central insert. Adjustments may be required for a tight fit; sand or scrape the joint or square recess as needed. Print two sets of hip parts and two of each "half" parts for the waist joint, along with one insert for each type. During installation, first insert the two halves into their respective grooves, then secure them in place with the central piece. Visual references are included to illustrate the correct installed appearance without needing to print them. Always adjust print size according to your Mad Cat scale to ensure compatibility and proper fit.
