I designed this system as an upgrade to the 3DMS Scalar model, applicable to all Scalar models, with the intention of reducing lateral cantilever load and abating linear bearing issues, while significantly lowering the operational noise floor of the machine. I plan to use this in conjunction with a trapezoidal lead screw featuring a planetary transmission. This system can be used on other models utilizing 8-10mm rods, but different Delrin V-groove runners will need to be utilized if vertical orientation is desired. These designs are intended for use with 25mm OD Delrin V-groove surrounds, requiring a guide rod preload of less than 0.5mm when the bottom bearing screw is removed (as shown), or up to 2.5mm preload with the screw installed at varying tightness levels.
