Improved Hand Sander

Improved Hand Sander

thingiverse

This is a sander inspired by concepts from several other sanding assemblies found on Thingiverse. What makes this design unique is its total 3d printability, and its ability to sand curves or flat surfaces with the extra slide-in piece. Printing Tips - I printed the main piece on its side without support - I printed the screw at 97.5 percent and still had to use pliers to carefully screw it in the first time. After it spun easily. Assembly instructions - Use pliers to slowly thread the screw through the main piece. If there is too much resistance, remove the screw and start again. By doing this, you will remove most of the friction from the two pieces. - Cut a 200mm x 26mm strip of sand paper and wrap tightly and evenly around the main piece. - With one hand, keep the sandpaper in place. With the other, carefully bend the tips of the sandpaper to the dips in the top of the main piece. - Finally, fit the cap on top of the main piece and tighten it down with the screw For flat surfaces, add the extra slide-in piece and hold so that your thumb presses against the side with the lip so it does not fall out For curved surfaces and fillets, remove the extra piece Hope you like it!
