Improved Extruder Assembly V1
thingiverse
A minor redesign of the original extruder has taken place, yielding significant improvements in fit and finish along with tighter tolerances throughout. The heatsink and bearings now reside snugly within their respective housings. Two versions of the fs_cover are included - one for standard use and another designed to accommodate an M6x1.0 PC4-M6 fitting for a filament guide. These parts, however, do not share compatibility with individual Prusa extruder components. Screenshots illustrating the orientation in which these parts were printed have been provided. Additionally, a new component called "Wire_Race" has been introduced to fit seamlessly into the back of the "x_carriage". To secure the filament sensor wires effectively, users must tightly twist them, then insert them into the Wire_Race before finally securing them within the carriage. Please note that the part requires precise fitting, and it may be necessary to sand and trim its sides to achieve a snug fit. This is because individual printer tolerances cannot be predicted with certainty. The extruder_idler hole for the Bondtech gear pin can appear slightly oblong due to printing orientation. To rectify this issue, users may find it helpful to employ a 7/64" (or #32) drill bit to ream out the hole gradually, taking care not to over-ream or risk necessitating reprinting of the part.
