Improved Basket for Trekking Poles / Hiking Sticks
thingiverse
I placed the original design on my hiking pole but had the basket separate from the post due to a design flaw that allowed for a millimeter gap between the support bars and center post. In order to address the issue, I closed the gap and added a little additional support to compensate and prevent the issue from happening again. I also added little domes to the perimeter of the basket in order to better allow the basket to be used for pushing away thorn bushes. Supports: - No. You can print this without supports if your printer is good at overhangs. Infill: - Infill settings are most likely irrelevant since there aren't any thick parts, but 100% wouldn't hurt you want to make sure you get the most solid print possible. Filament: - With the added supports and normal use, PLA should work fine here. Change List (shown as red in the photo): - Corrected design flaw that allowed gap between post and support bars - Added small spikes to allow for better grip of vegetation - Rotated so users will not have to rotate before printing. Wish List: - Versions that will fit other hiking sticks that don't use this thread pattern. Many kudos to the original designer of this design for making a great basket!
