Improved ball-joint wingnut for Anker car phone charger
thingiverse
My wife has an Anker PowerWave 7.5 Wireless Car Charger. It has a ball-and-socket swivel joint with a wingnut to tighten it.The original wingnut split, rendering the phone mount useless. Rather than buy a new wireless charger / phone mount for the car, I designed and printed an improved wingnut. This design has three improvements over the original: the wings have a steeper slope to allow the ball joint to swivel farther, the body of the nut is thicker to resist splitting, and one can have more than two wings. I settled on three (this is easy to change in the .scad file included).CustomizingThe included carchargernut.scad file can be used to customize this design. It requires my thread library circlestack_thread3.scad, which I developed for my nuts&bolt baby dexterity toy. The library can be downloaded from there. It isn't the most efficient thread library (I created it as a proof-of-concept) but I had it available and it works well, so I used it.
