Improved Anet A8 SD Card Holder Extension Top Mount

thingiverse

This is a two piece remix of my SD Card Extension / Adapter Frame Mount. One of the two mounting tangs on the original card holder adapter I made for my Anet A8 snapped off. The other tang is still holding the part in place, but it's just a matter of time before it too fails. I was simply going to reprint it, but instead opted to thicken the plastic from 2 to 3 mm on the tangs, and to make the model print in two pieces so that it doesn't require any supports. To install this, print the two pieces and glue them together with the card holder piece oriented with the side up that reflects the orientation of the SD card holder extension (sold separately). Insert the SD card holder extension into the assembled printed part in the preferred orientation then attach the completed assembly to the top left side of the printers frame using the two screws on the left side that line up with the holes. Be careful not to lose the partially captive nuts as you remove the two screws. Ideally, you'll want to just leave those nuts in place during the installation. Plug the card adapter extension cable into the printers main board and you're done. The slot on the back side of the housing is for the ribbon cable to slide through and is intentionally wide enough for the card adapter to be inserted either face up or down. The two holes on either side of the slot are for removing the card adapter by pushing it from the housing using a small screw driver, punch, paper clip, etc.
