Impossible Wheel
thingiverse
I created this design after being inspired by my experiences with the Impossible Table by Oak 600 on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3970291). I was dissatisfied with the stability issues caused by that design, which had only one interior connection point between its two pieces. I thought that adding several internal points of contact could fix this problem. At the same time, I had been experimenting with printing inseparable interlocking objects made possible by additive manufacturing. The result was a new object designed from scratch using Tinkercad. While it can be assembled as suggested in the STL file, I realized that sliding the two pieces closer together would create something more interesting. As shown in the photos, this object is extremely stable and could serve as a functional wheel by inserting an axle through its middle. This wheel would be flexible, and the fishing line could function as a kind of suspension system.
