Impossible Folding Laptop, Tablet, and Cellphone Holder
thingiverse
I call this the "Impossible" Laptop and Tablet Holder because it can't be manufactured using traditional methods. Don't worry, it's not impossible to print - in fact, it's very easy. Print this out and hand it to a friend and ask them how they think it was assembled? With the magic of 3D printing, of course! Versions: 1. A 45-degree stand version "ImpossibleXlaptopHolder45D.STL" 2. A 35-degree stand version "ImpossibleXlaptopHolder35D.STL" 3. A 45-degree smaller version for cellphones and small tablets "XCellPhoneHolderFolderAssem2.STL" This is a simple folding laptop holder that fits most small (around 13 inches) to medium (about 15 inches) sized laptops. Scale up for bigger laptops. Unfortunately, you won't be able to scale it down since I used 0.4mm gaps to separate the two moving parts. Printing any smaller than that and the parts would fuse together. I might make a smaller version for phones and tablets later. I printed three of these without supports and all worked fine. Printing instructions: Use a 0.4mm or smaller nozzle Layers: 0.1mm to 0.2mm Infill: 20% Shells: 3 to 4 Post printing: 1. Carefully snap the piece closed by placing it on a flat surface (table) and pressing the ends of the parts together - be careful not to let it catch your skin (that happened to me, ouch). Once you get that initial snap, the part will open and fold as intended. No assembly required. 2. Optional: add rubber feet or sticky tack (poster tack) to the bottom to prevent sliding.
