Impossible Dovetail with secret hole
thingiverse
I came across gzumwalt's incredible dovetail design and absolutely loved it, but I thought what if the bottom section was hollowed out? That would make an amazing secret box! So, I simply took it to tinkercad and created a reasonably sized hole that wouldn't compromise the cube's strength. The customized bottom and original top are in the files now. I just printed them at .4mm layer height with 15% infill, and each one took half an hour to print. They turned out great! It was a tight fit, so I sanded it a bit, which made it better, but PLA doesn't sand well. The hole is 40x10x35mm, so the only thing that would fit in it initially was an SD card and a folded post-it note. If you're interested, please share pictures of what you were able to fit inside it! Scaling it up will allow for larger items to be stored. I've just posted mine as a make, and I wish you all happy printing!
