I created a small display for my Imperial Star Destroyer from MetalEarth, http://www.fascinations.com/metalearth/star-wars/imperial-star-destroyer. I carefully inserted 3mm glass into slots on the sides. Next, I glued together the glass top and sides, and left them to dry while inverted. When dry, the glass case could be removed from the 3d printed platform, allowing me to safely place my Destroyer inside the display. I wish you good luck with your project! Printing with a 0.1mm resolution is highly recommended for clear text.
