Imperial Probe Droid - Probot
thingiverse
This is the robot from the icy snowy planet, not screen accurate as depicted in the fifth movie. The model is complete and print verified. This model prints best at 100% scale on FDM. For SLA/SLS, go as small as you'd like. I find that on FDM, a 120 to 130 percent scale works really well and all details show super nicely. Dec 27, 2017 Update - A new bottom has been added which changes the orientation of the legs and some bottom hardware. See instructions below. Enjoy. Nov 27, 2017 - A new head with a rounded top and better antenna nubs was added along with a new body top and thinner lower body. All split heads were removed because they print well but make it harder to assemble. I suggest splitting it vertically between some of the eyes and then laying that edge to the build plate. Printing the Model: Print three sets of LongLeg 1,2 &3 Print two sets of ShortLeg 1 & 2 Print five claws of any mix and match between the three styles Print one head of your choice Print one body top and one body bottom Print display post with higher infill Print the base - Hoth Assembly: Glue the body top to body bottom. You can align it to the full body or anyway you like. Glue the head parts together. For the legs, glue the upper and lower and the claw. Position them the way you like and then glue to the bottom body Use the peg to hold the head to the body. This allows the head to spin on the body. You know for that critical missed shot against a big hairy monkey and that bag of mostly salty water named Nan. Glue the display post to the display stand For the long range comm antennas, I did not include them. Take a piece of filament and heat it up and stretch it out. Cut two equal length pieces and glue on the antenna nubs. There's no point in trying to print these since it can't be done.
