Impeller
grabcad
A rotor, known as an impeller, is utilized to enhance (or reduce for turbines) fluid pressure and flow rate. In centrifugal pumps, the impeller serves as a rotating element that transfers motor-driven energy to pumped fluids by accelerating them radially outward from the center of rotation. The achieved velocity translates into pressure as the outward movement is confined by the pump casing; impellers typically possess an open inlet, radial vanes, and a splined, keyed, or threaded bore for drive-shaft attachment.
