Basic hand-operated manual water pump features a piston moving up and down inside a cylinder to draw water from a well or borehole. The user operates the handle attached to the piston rod to create suction, pulling water upwards into the pump's chamber. As the handle is lowered, the piston falls, pushing the water out of the chamber and back into the supply line.
