I needed a large and easily accessible holder for my hex drill bits and impact bits that would keep them organized and within reach. The ideal holder should have two trays at the bottom to store oddly shaped bits and be able to hold up to 32 bits in total. The first version of the holder turned out to be a disaster, so I made a list of issues and problems that needed to be solved. Problems: - The holes were the same size as the driver bits (6.33mm), which meant they didn't fit properly. - The hole was too shallow, causing the impact driver bit to lean slightly while it stayed in place. - The two trays at the bottom were too small in all dimensions. - Some corners were too sharp, making them uncomfortable to handle. - I wasn't satisfied with the overall visual style of the holder. - The rim around the outside was too thin. Solutions: - The holes were made larger (6.495mm flat to flat) to account for material extrusion and some wiggle room. - Driver bit holes were made deeper to allow bits to sit upright better. - Trays at the bottom were made much larger in all dimensions to store oddly shaped bits. - Corners were rounded on both the outside perimeter and the inside of the driver bit holders. - The overall design looks neater now (in my opinion). - The space between the holes and the border was increased. After making these changes, I uploaded the new files. However, it seems like a couple more issues needed to be addressed before the holder was perfect. To avoid any potential problems, I recommend pausing the print once enough of the hex pattern has shown up and checking if the driver bits fit in the holes. This could save a lot of time and frustration. If you're still having trouble with the holes being too small, you can try cutting up the model until you get just one hex bit holder and then rescale it to make your bits fit.
