This larger-than-life bronze sculpture, created by renowned neo-classical sculptor Jean-Pierre Cortot (1787-1843), brings to life the personification of France, embodied as Liberty. Standing tall, it serves as a majestic representation of the iconic Statue of Liberty. Initially intended for the grand dome of the Panthéon, this masterpiece met an untimely demise in 1848. However, thanks to the preservation efforts of the Louvre, a bronze replica cast by Thiébault in 1859 now stands as a testament to Cortot's enduring artistry.
