iMicroLens - iPhone Microskope using CD-Rom, DVD-Rom Lens!
thingiverse
I modified an existing lens adapter (from Andrew Barton at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:19936) to accommodate a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive laser lens. It's a cost-effective setup that performs well. When printing this design, ensure the first layers are printed slowly (20mm/s for the initial 10% of layers), then increase speed to 40mm/s to maintain roundness. My printer settings include: Prusa I2, PLA filament at 3mm, a print speed of 20-40 mm/s, layer height of 0.2mm, Merlin hotend, and a 0.5mm nozzle. Smaller nozzles might provide finer results, but I was too lazy to change for just one print.
