iMAX B6 Fan attachment plate
thingiverse
I designed a charger plate that connects an eBay-sourced squirrel cage blower fan to an iMAX B6 because the device was getting too hot when I was charging at 50 watts with six cells. By adding this modification, I hope to extend the lifespan of my iMAX by keeping it cool and reducing the risk of capacitor damage due to constant high temperatures. To replicate my setup, download the attached 123D file and feel free to edit it as you see fit. Instructions for installation are straightforward: 1. Disconnect the original plate from where the power connects. 2. Secure the fan in place using hot glue or epoxy. 3. Attach the wires to the circular metallic holes on either side of the new plate, then solder them firmly into position. 4. Simply screw the new plate with the fan attached securely onto your iMAX and you're done. If desired, drilling holes in the opposite metal plate can increase airflow through your setup. The eBay fan I used for this project can be sourced from the following link: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=DC+12V+2-Pin+Brushless+Cooling+Cooler+Centrifugal+Blower+Fan+4020+40mmx40mmx20mm&_sacat=0
