I'm thrilled with my new IMac mini enclosure. It's been a long time coming, but it was worth the wait! UPDATE 01: I'm extremely happy with how it turned out and everyone who's seen it loves it too. The five parts fit together perfectly. I used PLA on a 3D Touch machine to print it. The last part I made was the iPad holder, which prevented it from falling off. I considered using velcro dots but then found an old GoPro suction cup on eBay for $3 from China. It worked out better since I didn't have to attach anything to my beloved iPad mini. I added some weight inside the dome using garden stones, but that was just a temporary fix. In the future, I'll use something more suitable like heavy washers or big bolts. You can play with it and see what works best for you. The next version will include holes on top, but feel free to drill them yourself if you want. My 3D printer created scaffolding under the dome, and with all those small holes, it would have taken too long to print. I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did! This enclosure was designed using ArchiCAD 17, which allowed me to create it in under an hour. The base took about 13 hours to print, the dome the same amount of time, and the iPad mini holder only four hours. I used two 4mm bolts with washers that came in 40mm length - you'll need to cut off the excess for a clean finish. Please share photos when you're done; I'd love to see them! Instructions: download, print at the scale provided, assemble it, and enjoy!
