Illy Iperespresso capsule gasket and mold
thingiverse
This is a gasket to allow refilling Illy Iperespresso capsules so you can use the coffee machine as a conventional one, and/or with your favourite espresso blend. First, you VERY CAREFULLY separate the red cap from the capsule body using an exacto knife or a scalpel. Take time, don't rush it. Clean, rinse, repeat for the number of capsules you want to have available. Clean the capsule, place the gasket inside, fill with coffee up to the gasket (compress if you want a stronger espresso) and place the cap on again. You can print the gasket in a flexible filament of your choice, but I don't recommend it since it's not food safe. I printed a TPU prototype and works beatifully, no leaks and no issues, but TPU is to be avoided. So, included is a reusable mold to make gaskets out of food grade silicone. Print the body at 0.1 for best surface smoothness. 0.3 for the lid is ok, I suggest using the ironing feature of Cura. Pour the silicone on the mold making sure it gets to the bottom using a thin applicator to avoid bubbles, and fill almost to the top. Then place the top cover and put bolts on to keep it firmly closed. While slowly thinghteing the bolts pushing the cover down, it will displace some silicone (due to the pressure) which will come out of 4 tiny holes. This will ensure perfect filling of the mold. When dry, extract the gasket, cut the four silicone prongs and presto! You are done. Happy coffees!
