Illusion Vase
myminifactory
This vase was created with SelfCAD for the MyMiniFactory SelfCAD Design Competition.\r\nIt can add a lively touch to your home or workplace by simply printing it out and adding flowers or other decorations!\r\nPhotographing the textures on the vase proved challenging due to how subtle the illusion texture is... but in person, the texture turned out quite nice. \r\nWatch the video I took while modeling the vase using SelfCAD at: https://youtu.be/1-zulGYSgWU\r\nSteps include using the "Image to 3D" command within SelfCAD to create raised edges along the sides of the vase. I then copied and joined the pattern multiple times to form a rectangular shape. Next, I merged the sides together, created a base for the vase, and attached it to the rest of the body.I used the "taper" command in the deform toolbar to create a narrower opening towards the top of the vase. After that, I used the "twist" command to add a simple yet elegant curvature to the piece.Once the design was complete, I applied the "magic fix" to ensure everything was joined together and ready for 3D printing.\r\nFree background music from: https://www.bensound.comThe Image to 3D texture came from: https://123rf.com/photo_25298932_black-and-white-psychedelic-circular-textile-patterns-seamless-background.html\r\nPrinted in white PLA plastic at a .2mm layer height, taking 7 hours and 57 minutes. No support material was required!\r\n#selfCADchallenge #SelfCAD
