Illinois Duck Silhouette
thingiverse
This is an Illinois outline featuring a duck stretched across its middle section, created for a coworker who requested a 3D printed version. I cobbled this together and decided to share it with others. I have a deep affection for my home state of Illinois, but it's disheartening to see that even bipartisan efforts often result in harm to the state and its residents. Regardless, if you're an avid duck hunter, a proud Illinois enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates this design, feel free to reach out. Print Settings Printer: Prusa i3 MK2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 20% with two layers combined Design Process I utilized two distinct images - an Illinois outline and a duck silhouette - to create this design. The duck image was larger, so I employed GIMP to open the Illinois map, then the duck image, and finally scaled the duck to match its intended size. After exporting it in high-resolution PNG format, I used InkScape to convert the PNG file into an SVG. Although I should have utilized InkScape from the outset, I was unfamiliar with its capabilities and needed to expedite the process. I then uploaded the SVG file to a conversion site that transformed it into STL format - a more convenient option at the time. Next, I employed Slic3r to slice the design and export the GCODE to an SD card. The rest of the story unfolded from there.
