Ile de la Comtesse
sketchfab
This island was likely named "Isle of the Countess" in honor of its owner, Countess Marguerite de Mayenne, Countess of Avaugour, wife of Henri II d'Avaugour Lord of Goëlo and Dinan, between 1238 and the year of her death in 1248. The visible constructions today are not ruins or remnants of any fortress. The existing walls were built by Mr. and Mrs. Auguste Yves Marie Le Maout between 1872 and 1898 with the intention of creating a botanical garden and a vegetable garden.
