Buried Lantern (Ikekomi-gata) Typically stands at about one meter in height. Supported by a shaft buried deep within the earth, it lacks a pedestal altogether. Often situated near a water feature, this lantern can also be placed anywhere throughout the garden to great effect. Ikekomi gata lanterns are frequently decorated with ornamental leaves. They're commonly positioned at entranceways leading to pathways or along winding paths where two or more paths intersect.
