Ikea Visthus DIY Shelf Support
thingiverse
This is an "Extension" Part for an Ikea "VISTHUS" Wardrobe/Shelf. I wanted more vertical dividers to put Ikea "SAMLA" Boxes (which I sort my Stuff into) on. So I bought 3 more 53x56.2x16mm Boards (Mine are white with this plastic Work-Surface, although you can ofc. take whichever you like) and tried to design a simple piece similar to Ikeas own mounting system. Since the cutouts on the original Shelf-Boards were way too complicated for me to replicate, I went for a simpler design. I marked the cutout centers from the original Boards onto mine, then made Marks with 10mm inset from the Edge. Then I used a 14mm Drill bit to make a hole and finally used my jigsaw to cut straight lines to the edges. (Cutting the Plastic Surface beforehand to avoid the plastic coating from peeling off). Then I printed this piece and screwed it into the holes using a 4x20mm wood screw. To finish it off I also put some special Edge-Tape on the board-front for the looks. This is definitely not perfect, if you have the right tools you could make a holder that can't be seen from the top. I didn't mind that very much and only have basic power tools for woodworking so this wasmy best solution.
