This is a custom connector housing I designed to enable "Hacking" the IKEA Trådfri LED Drivers to accept any compatible 24V LED strip with the correct power rating. Initially, I attempted using a standard 2.54mm pitch JST-isch connector but quickly realized that my precious LED strip would likely be damaged due to careless handling unless I found an alternative connector. Instead of searching for a solution, I decided to create a custom connector housing through CAD work, resulting in the design you see here. This housing is intended to accept sockets commonly found in red connectors used in RC hobby applications (see images). In my initial prototype, I incorporated a latch, but it proved ineffective when printed with PLA material. Consequently, I opted for a revised design without a latch and relied on friction to secure the connector, which seems to work well. I produced this custom connector housing using a 0.2mm nozzle with a 0.1mm layer height on an Ender 3 Pro modified for direct extrusion utilizing stock parts. The slicing process was completed using Prusaslicer with settings close to the defaults for Prusa MK3s equipped with a 0.25mm nozzle.
