IKEA Trogsta lamp base
thingiverse
I bought two IKEA Trogsta lamps several years ago. They possess sentimental value, so when both of them snapped at the base, we reinforced them with electrical tape, rubber bands, and whatever else it took to get the tripod-like design working. This patch hopefully fortifies a fragile part by design, making the lamp sturdy and useful once again. The part was designed using Autodesk Fusion 360 in just a couple of hours, despite having no real experience with the software beforehand. I highly recommend it for rapid iteration. How I Designed This Take measurements of metal leg I started tracing one of the three metal legs on paper, then taking general measurements. The end of the leg features a specific geometry that doesn't need to be replicated in order to achieve a good fit in the base. Model the base The base is primarily an extruded circumference and modified rectangular container arranged in a circular pattern. I didn't include the cable holder because it actually makes the lamp prone to falling.
