IKEA Tobias Chair feet

The original polypropylene feet that came with our Ikea Tobias chairs wore down after some years of intensive use. To be honest, our kitchen floor is quite irregular - maybe this helped. Finally, the remaining plastic thickness became so small that the head of the fixing rivets was exposed and started to scratch our floor tiles. So I decided to replace them with 3d printed ABS feet. They are designed to replace the original parts, adding some height to increase their lifetime. I suppose the wearing rate will depend on the kind of material you choose, but I have used ABS (100% infill) with good results - the first prototypes have been installed and heavily used for two months now and they are still as new. To remove the old feet, you will have to drill out the original aluminum rivets. Then, fix the new ones using 4.8 mm rivets. I used standard aluminum pop rivets, with a body diameter of approximately 4.8 mm and a flange diameter that is roughly two times the diameter of the rivet body. Printer settings: Printer brand: RepRap Printer model: Prusa i3 framebox Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.25 mm Infill: 100% Notes: These parts will support heavy loads and wearing, so I decided to print them in solid ABS (100% infill).
