IKEA tea pot lid
thingiverse
I've had this IKEA tea pot for a long time, but the lid vanished ages ago. I've been using tea saucers as a makeshift lid, but now that I have a 3D printer, I'm getting off my lazy butt and making something specific.\r\n\r\nThis is just the middle part of the lid - the part that covers the diffuser (the white part in the photo). I've also included the OpenSCAD file in case you want to mess with the file and make your own lid for any container. The scad file is set to draw cylinders with 256 sides and spheres with 512, so it takes a really long time to render. Lower those values to improve render times (at the expense of print quality if you don't change them back).\r\n\r\nYou should study the impact of printing materials' toxicity when in contact with hot liquid before printing this, if that sort of thing concerns you. In theory, PLA will leak some lactic acid, which is considered "generally safe." ABS probably gets pretty nasty at temperatures near water's boiling point. But I have an aversion to ingesting petroleum, so maybe it's nothing. Do your own research if you care.
