I salvaged an old IKEA Rutgers/Jules Swivel chair from my neighbor, who was eager to get rid of it. The chair was missing only one roller wheel, which caused some instability, but I quickly seized the opportunity to rescue this chair from the landfill. Within 10 minutes, I designed a new roller wheel in Fusion 360, breathing new life into this chair. Since IKEA uses the same basic roller mechanism for all its chairs, my design should fit any swivel chair from IKEA perfectly. The new wheel simply friction-fits onto the axle of the original roller mechanism, making it easy to install. If you live near an IKEA store, you can visit their customer support area and ask for a free replacement roller wheel. They will provide the entire mechanism with two rollers, saving you time and effort.
