I swiftly engineered this spool holder for a filament spool to suspend beneath a 2.5 cm thick IKEA shelf. It boasts two slots for an 8 mm rod. Additionally, it can be secured to the shelf with a small M3 wood screw to guarantee that the holder cannot topple over during a print. I discovered it most practical to only attach one of the two so that the width between them can still be adjusted for various sizes of spools, while ensuring it remains securely in place. I printed them in PETG, but PLA and other filaments will also work effectively.
