Ikea Sektion Shelf Jig

Ikea Sektion Shelf Jig

I installed a new IKEA Sektion kitchen in my laundry room. I picked up some open box shelves for cheap that were too long, so I cut them down to size. The way Ikea does their shelves on these, they sit in a groove that is basically half a 3/8 inch drill bit (probably different for the rest of the world). This jig just straddles over the top and allows you to drill a hole for the pegs to sit in. It worked out great. Use a 3/8 inch drill bit. I used a flat bottom forstner bit so it was flat on the bottom, but it would probably work fine with a regular twist drill. There are four different holes depending on what side you need and the front or the back of the shelf. It's pretty easy to figure out. They wear out after 15 or 20 holes, so I'd print a few if you need to do a lot of shelves like me.
