IKEA RÄTTVIKEN Plug Waste Holder
thingiverse
I've had an IKEA sink in my bathroom for several years now, and I'm still using the original Rättviken single wash basin. The waste plug is a bit of a problem, as it tends to jam in the central hole, making it difficult to remove. To fix this issue, I removed the O-ring and considered replacing it with a wire ring, but the design doesn't allow for easy storage when not in use. Recently, I decided to take matters into my own hands using some BigRep Pro HT black filament, a Robox QuickFill, and a bit of CAD work. Within minutes, I had created an STL file that would solve this problem once and for all. After printing the design at 0.2mm layer heights with no support, it was done in just over an hour. To account for shrinkage, I repeated the process, and voila! The issue is now resolved. While the waste doesn't normally overflow properly, this modification hasn't made a significant difference so far. However, I did consider adding more slots to the remaining sides if needed. The overall result looks decent, and it's nice to have a change from seeing the back of the white waste through the normal chrome ring. So far, no one has noticed that it's a 3D print!
