The job accomplished by moononournation is truly remarkable, and it's now your responsibility to create something amazing with it. I'm here to help you achieve that goal. I present to you my mod to transform an Ikea Rodd lamp shade into his incredible moon creation. Instructions: * Print parameters: + Layer height: 100 microns + Infill: 100% + Non-tree supports touching the build plate + It's highly recommended to print it in one solid piece for the best result * Depending on your printing speed and nozzle, this may take up to a week to complete. However, I managed to finish it in just two days with a 0.8 mm nozzle. I used approximately 250g of PETG. You can either print my version or create your own, scaling the design as needed. Remember that we're working with a 3D volume, so scaling up by 50% will triple the printing time. If you reduce its size slightly, you'll save a lot of time and material. Just be sure to scale before cutting the hole and adding the threads. My Version: Print Nickduino's Moonshade.stl with Support blocker.stl to block supports from going too high on the outside of the moon (they ruin the finish and are difficult to remove). Your Version: * Do what you like with A- 5 inches Moon mesh by moononournation.stl (or any other file) * Perform a boolean difference between Part A & B- Hole.stl in Meshmixer (or any software). Depending on the design, you may want to remesh the cylinder but leave the moon intact. * Combine or perform a boolean union between the result of the former step and C- Screw.stl (long or short, your choice) Print Nickduino's Moonshade.stl with non-tree supports touching the build plate and use Support blocker.stl to block supports from going too high on the outside of the moon.
