What is the problem I'm trying to solve? === Even with the Tevo Tornado Ikea Mirror Holder in place, my mirror kept sliding back and forth just a tiny bit. This could be easily remedied by using some clips to hold the mirror down. However, this shaved away quite a bit of usable build space, and made it hard to take the mirror off when I wanted to clean it. So I came up with this tensioner. It allows me to fix the mirror in place so it will not move, even with higher jerk settings on the bed. Also, it's really easy to replace the mirror, be it for cleaning or just because I don't want to wait for the last print to cool down until I start a new one. After all, Ikea sent four of these mirrors in the box. How to Print === Any filament that isn't too flexible should be fine. I used eSun PLA+. Print in the file orientation, meaning the larger flat surfaces go on the bottom. For the shove you'll need supports. Because of this you may need to file down the area where the supports were a bit for everything to fit smoothly. You'll need to tap the hole in the pad with an M6 thread. How to Use === Please be aware that this setup still eats away some build space in that corner, but it's minimal compared to using clips for the glass. Because of this it's not advised to use it on the front left corner. I prefer the front right corner for it, as it's easy to reach. When assembling, put the shove in the pad first, and then insert the leveling screw. Finally, use the supplied screw or a generic M6 screw to tension the mirror. To tension it properly, turn the screw just until you can't wiggle the shove anymore. Don't tighten it any further, because you don't want to put too much tension on the mirror, as it might affect the flatness or even damage it. Also, it's best to tension it when the bed is heated up. Update for bigger mirrors or glass plates === I've added a version that's 5mm shorter to accommodate plates up to 1cm larger (assuming you are using it with a set of holders that properly center that type of mirror). Hopefully that helps some people out.
