Ikea Millberget cracked arm brace (cast)
thingiverse
Have 2 Millberget chairs that have both either started cracking, or completely split in the corner of the arm where the seat meets the backrest (as you can see in the photos). Figured it would make a nice project for the 3D printer. Created 2 casts, one for each side, purchased slightly longer screws to accommodate the extra thickness (M8x35). I used PLA for the print solely because I haven't gotten into printing PETG yet. PLA is probably not the best choice for this, but it "does" work (ymmv) with enough walls and infill. Print with the specs below at 50mm/s print speed was in the 12 hour range. The prints used for the photos are unfortunately with a bit of problematic PLA that I'm using up, but good enough to show what it is and what it's for. Left side piece has "The Dad Depot" logo ;) ... fix was for the kids chairs. There ... I've justified the cost of the printer ... ummm ... well, no, but I'll keep working at it. Printing: PLA 6 walls min 80% infill 0.4 nozzle 0.2 layer height, 0.4 linewidth speed: whatever your printer can reliably accomodate *** make sure to flip the part so the arm "channel" is up before slicing so there's no support required Probably PETG would be a better choice.
