IKEA Lixhult Air Hole Grommets
thingiverse
I purchased a Lixhult metal cabinet from Ikea and decided to store backup hard drives within its interior. To ensure adequate cooling of these storage devices, I had to create air holes in the front panel of the cabinet. These holes were made possible by drilling pilot holes first, followed by using a stepper drill bit to create 12mm diameter air holes. The air hole grommets fit perfectly over these holes, allowing airflow while concealing the sharp edges surrounding each hole. Two distinct designs exist for the grommets: small ones for the front (12mm) and larger ones for the back (31.75mm). I carefully placed the grommets into the holes, taking care to avoid the vertical bar located inside the cabinet lid that provides structural support to the cabinet door.
