I'll be using the Printrbot Simple Metal Z-Axis clip with filament guide and arm to create a sturdy base for holding a tree branch, rod, or long dowel, paired with an innovative holder for IKEA's LEDBERG LED light strip. To minimize plastic use, I took on the challenge! Thanks to XXV for the brilliant strip connectors - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:121247 - I adapted the female socket by trimming it down to fit my needs. Similarly, kudos to xonegon for their exceptional Ledberg bracket design, which I skillfully merged into a seamless arc - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:61044 **Step-by-Step Instructions** Choose a suitable long rigid rod (such as a tree branch or 1/2 inch wire trunking), measuring approximately 40cm in length. This length provides an optimal balance between securing the Z-axis and firmly holding the LED strips. To anchor the Z-axis end, I utilized stiff wire, while on the other end, I secured it with a screw driven into the tree branch's side to prevent the strips from sagging. Additional stability was achieved by inserting a plastic strip - carefully repurposed from the LEDBERG's packaging. Next, slide the LEDs effortlessly into their designated slots within the bracket, but don't force them in - they won't fit! To set up each connector socket, I unraveled long leads of wire, making sure to secure the exposed wire to reach its full potential. Using 20-gauge wire (sufficient for 12V) ensures a safe and reliable connection. Finally, if possible, coat the wire with solder to guarantee an optimal contact between the connectors.
