I decided to replace the small pieces of double-sided adhesive that came with my LED strip lighting kit with larger ones to secure them firmly under my cupboards, as the originals had started to peel off after just a few days. So far, two weeks have passed and they're still securely in place, suggesting that this fix was indeed effective.
