UPDATE In the assembled picture, the bottom shelf actually matches the height of the lack table; I extended the legs on the top two shelves since this will be an enclosure for my 3D printer. I needed a way to neatly stack Lack Tables for an enclosure for my 3D Printer. I wanted to use screws but didn't have a large enough drill press, so I created this jig to let me drill precise holes of the correct size. There's a 2mm offset between the leg and the top of the table that needed accounting for as well. The holes are slightly undersized, allowing you to ream them with first drilling. The jig is designed for a #8 x 3" woodscrew. Pilot holes are drilled using a 5/64" bit; clearance holes are drilled using an 11/64" bit (this bit should not be used with the jig). There are five holes on the jig, but only two are needed: one is in the center of the jig and unused. Use two diagonal holes; your choice is fine. The other two holes can be used if you wear out the first pair excessively - switch to them then. To account for the 2mm offset, position the jig correctly: when drilling a leg, "LEG" should be readable on the jig when it's held in place. When drilling through the table top, "TABLE" should be clearly visible. No clamps are needed; just hold the jig tightly to the corner with one hand and drill the hole with the other as shown. Pilot holes are drilled in both legs and table; then, holes in the table are enlarged using an 11/64" bit. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Build top table as instructed, using dowel screws provided by Ikea. 2. Drill pilot holes in bottom of legs, then pilot holes in next table top. Enlarge holes with 11/64" bit and attach tabletop to legs using (8) #8 x 3" woodscrews. 3. Use dowel screws to attach legs to bottom tabletop. 4. Repeat as necessary.
