Ikea Lack Squash Ball Dampener / Anti Vibration Feet

These inserts for Ikea Lack series tables effectively cancel out noise from 3D-printers or other devices placed on the table. I had to take this step because the Y-axis of my Prusa clone is very noisy and can easily be heard in the flat beyond me, coupling through the wooden ceiling. Each leg of the table is sawn in half about 20cm from its top and the dampener is inserted. They should be friction fit, but can also be glued in place. Alternatively, you should be able to remove the bottom plate of each leg and insert a single holder part with a ball fitted to the lowest table. Not tested yet, but the dimensions look okay. For each leg, you will need one 90° and one 45°-version. Which one you insert where is up to you. A standard squash ball is squished between them and both halfs of the dampener module are then combined. Should be self-explanatory! I used blue (fast) squash balls for mine, which ball you use depends on your needs: The softer the balls, the greater dampening should be, but softer balls also do not support that much weight without deforming. To stiffen the lower part of the leg (which is free to move in two axis because of the ball-joint now) I added a part to fix it to the top of another Lack-table. This part should be printed with the mounting plate down, using supports! Enjoy! -------------------- Updates: 2018-02-04 - An updated version of the insert part fits better now and won't crack the glued edges of the legs; A part for fixing the lower leg part to the table beyond is also added. 2018-02-10 - Stacker feet with inlaid screws are added.
