Ikea Lack Extension

Ikea Lack Extension

I'm building an enclosure for my printer using Ikea Lack tables and need an additional 30mm of height, so I designed this to give me that extra lift. A channel was added for a ~40mm drywall/wood screw. The screw head should not exceed 8mm or you'll have to drill out the top where the screw is inserted. Note that on my printer, I compress the first layer too much and the 10mm opening was closer to 8mm, so I simply spun the drywall screw with a drill at higher speed. The heat then allowed some flexibility in the plastic to push the drywall screw through. You don't have to use the screw, but it's recommended for stability. (This isn't parameterized in the Onshape document at this time, but may be in the future) You can download the STL if you want to use the following parameters, or go to the OnShape link below to customize them. Simply change the variables and the design will adjust itself as all relevant values are calculated. LegWidth = 50.9 (this is slightly wider than the normal Ikea leg, giving a better base, but also allowing the lip at the top to sit snug on the leg.) LegHeight = 30. (This is how much extra I needed, but if you need it higher or shorter, change this) WallThickness = 6 (I found this thickness to give a good balance between strength and size. I didn't want the lip protruding too far out so this works well.) WallHeight = 20 (This is a symmetrical value. So 10mm is what overlaps the wood leg and another 10mm overlaps the plastic on the bottom and gives the chamfered edge for strength. Again, I found 20mm to be a good balance of strength and size, but consider adjusting this if you feel you need extra support.) https://cad.onshape.com/documents/93321e86afacad5b8d5f21ac/w/0771f5baaa0d18a7a4c9da38/e/623ebfca8bdbc2811dbc11b0 Print Settings: Printer: Wanhao Di3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .4 or less Infill: 15-30% Notes: The piece prints vertically, no support, with the narrower part on the bed. There's a 45deg chamfer so no supports needed for that overhanging lip. I printed with 3 shells, and 3 layers top/bottom @ 15-30% infill.
