Ikea Lack Based Enclosure for Malyan M150
thingiverse
This is my version of the Ikea Lack side table enclosure for Prusa I3 clones. It features several elements that others might want to consider in their own enclosures. I wanted to be able to lift the enclosure off of the printer easily, so I made it very light weight. The Lack side table itself is very light, since it consists mainly of thin plastic encasing a cardboard core. Another feature that I wanted was a door that lifted out versus swinging open, making accessing the enclosure much easier. Features: The side and back panels are made of foam board (obtainable from dollar tree for $1 or Staples for a bit more). Two sheets were required. On the backside, a 2 inch gap was left at the bottom of the panel for power cord access. The white color of the foam board panels reflects the light from the added light bar, increasing brightness inside the enclosure. The foam board also provides insulation. The enclosure can be lifted off of the printer by simply clipping the filament and unplugging the light bar. The door lifts out as opposed to swinging open. Required printed objects to build the enclosure are small and easy to print quickly. An IKEA LEDBERG lighting module was used to light the enclosure. Only 2 bars were required. A piece of double sided tape was placed under the light switch, along with two closely placed wire clips. DesignSpark Mechanical source files are provided for parts designed by me. The handles and handle back plates files are not provided. They are available at "Yet Another Lack Table Enclosure" by Hagster (thing:1920010). I think Hagster's handle design is really great and used them here. Print Settings Printer: Malyan M150 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 25% to 50% Notes: Sliced with Kisslicer v1.5. Parts made with PLA. The Filament Washer is used on the underside of the table top to help support the filament holder bracket. Acrylic front door is 18"x15.75"x0.093". Sourced from Home Depot. Foam board sides are 20"x15.75". Foam board back is the remaining piece of one of the two full pieces (~20"x14.25"). Clips were put at ~2" from the bottom and 2 inches from the top of the leg (starting below table top). A clip was also put at the top of the foam board at the center. See photos. Post Assembly Ideas: I would consider using latches similar to the front door on one or both of the side panels. It would make entry to the side/back of the enclosure a little easier. I would also consider adding a handle (or handles) to the top of the table. It would make it easier to get hold of the enclosure when removing it.
